ALBION, Mich. – Cassandra Reuschlein exploded for a career-high eight goals in her final regular season home game as Albion College defeated Saint Mary's College, 18-8, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's lacrosse action.

With the victory, Albion (11-4 overall and 7-1 against MIAA rivals) secured the No. 2 seed for the MIAA Tournament. The Britons will host Saint Mary's in a semifinal game, set for 5 p.m., Wednesday at Davis Athletic Complex. Albion won all seven of its home games during the regular season.

Reuschlein scored twice – and Lauren Wiegand and Shannon Kahl scored once each – as Albion built a 9-4 halftime lead.

Reuschlein scored three goals and assisted on another as Albion scored seven in a row during a 15 minutes stretch of the second half.

Goalkeeper Jenina Villabroza stopped 14 shots, and Kahl and Taylor Nelson kept the shots away from the goal as they finished with seven ground balls each.
