Box Score ALBION, Mich. – Albion College scored six times in a match for the first time in nearly two years Friday, as it launched the men's soccer season with a 6-0 victory over Marian (Wis.) University at the Davis Athletic Complex.
It turned out to be an afternoon when every man on the roster participated in the match.
"We executed off free kicks and corner kicks, though there were some final passes that could have been more precise," Albion Head Coach Wytse Molenaar said. "We did a good job of keeping the ball and not letting them get in the flow of play. The guys did a decent job of holding each other responsible."
Jonathon Daily, a sophomore, opened the scoring with his first collegiate goal in the 10th minute. Kyle Bourlier and Will Colborn also scored for Albion in the first half.
Christian Hurtado scored twice in the second half, and first-year players Trae Hjorth and Moses Jatta combined on a play in the final minute to complete the scoring.
Starting goalkeeper Maximilian Loria faced just one shot before being relieved by Chris Wallace with 24 ½ minutes left.
Game Notes
· The last time Albion scored six times in a match was Sept. 13, 2016. It was a 6-0 victory over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Trine University.
· Albion finished the match with a whopping 29-1 advantage in shots, and the Britons placed 16 shots on goal.
Albion will complete the Briton Invitational tomorrow with a 4:30 kickoff against Lawrence (Wis.) University at the Davis Athletic Complex.
