Strong second half sends Albion to victory

Box Score

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College blitzed Kalamazoo College with a 13-0 run to start the second half as it pulled away for an 88-61 victory in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's basketball action.

Albion (11-4 overall, 4-0 MIAA) has won its first four league contests for the first time since 2010. The Britons continue to play at home at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when they challenge Trine University in a game set for video streaming on the Albion You Tube channel by the Briton Sports Network.

Kalamazoo shot 52 percent from the field and Jeremiah Vincent scored 16 of his 18 points in the first half as the Hornets trailed by just a point at halftime.

"There was a refocus on playing the way we needed to play," Albion Head Coach Jody May said. "We were worried about the wrong things in the first half. Our game plan was to keep them out of the lane and we didn't do a very good job of that. We were fine once we settled down and started playing the right way."

Albion hit 57 percent (17-of-30) of its shots in the second half. Quinton Armstrong scored eight of his 12 points in the second half. Caden Ebeling and Juwan Perry added seven points apiece in the second half.

Jamezell Davis, Jr. was Albion's leading scorer with 14. Ebeling finished with 13, Perry added 11 and Nathaniel Collins chipped in with 10.
