Hot shooting Britons overwhelm Earlham

Box Score

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College shot 82 percent from the field in the second half as it overwhelmed Earlham College for a 95-71 victory in non-league men's basketball action.

Supported by one of the largest crowds ever for a November game at Kresge Gymnasium, Albion led for 35 minutes. The second half surge, however, came after Earlham rallied from 11 points down early to forge a 36-35 lead with 4 ½ minutes left in the first half.

In fact, it took a Jamezell Davis, Jr. 3-point basket as the first half clock expired to push Albion to a 42-38 lead at halftime.

"Our students and community were unbelievable," Head Coach Jody May said after Albion improved to 3-1 this season. "They weren't going to let us lose tonight. We've had crowds like that before, but never at a November game."

All five Briton starters scored in double figures, but Caden Ebeling enjoyed a remarkable night. He hit 13-of-14 shots from the field and matched his career scoring high with 31 points. According to NCAA statistics for Division III, only two players have a higher field goal percentage in a game this season.

Ebeling also corralled eight rebounds.

Quinton Armstrong, Ebeling's frontcourt mate, added 13 points. He hit all four of his shots from the field.

And the backcourt chipped in, too. Cortez Garland and Juwan Perry finished with 11 points apiece, while Davis and Josh Palo finished with 10 each.

Albion's last game prior to Thanksgiving is a Tuesday date at Heidelberg University.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.

The College is continuing to raise funds in support of both projects. To learn more, call 517/629-0446 or email advancement@albion.edu
