The Briton women finished 2nd in their final tune-up before the MIAA indoor championships. They competed at the Hillsdale tune-up. The second-place Britons received balanced scoring in the field and on the track.
The field events were led by ShaQuoria Thompson. She placed 2nd in both the shot put and weight throw. Anna Albaugh also placed in both throws. Karen Carrol sailed to a personal best (9' 4") in the pole vault, and Alexis McGinley jumped to a season's best in the long jump; both finished 4th in each jumping event.
Alexis also ran well on the track. She ran a personal best in the 200m (26.91) and finished 4th, just ahead of Emily Kinser, who also ran a personal best (27.06). Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.
The College is continuing to raise funds in support of both projects. To learn more, call 517/629-0446 or email advancement@albion.edu
