GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Even though the results may not have gone in their favor, the Albion College men's and women's swimming and diving teams were back in the pool on Saturday at Calvin University. The Knights won the men's dual, 167-69, and the women's dual, 151-87.
"We had some good results today even though we've only been back for a week after a long hiatus," said head coach, Nick Stone. "We're definitely going to be competitive."
Below is a listing of top-three finishes for the Britons.
Sage Gettings won the 100 yard fly with a time of 58.21.
A trio of Britons took the top three spots in the women's 100 yard breaststroke -- Katy Henning, Courtney Swingewood and Angela McCauley.
In the men's 100 yard breaststroke, Jake Huttenlocher, Declan Tharp and Andrew Jonna finished 1-2-3.
Junior Noah Mitchell was second in the 1000 yard freestyle while Ashley Ketchum took third place in the women's event. Mitchell finished third in the 100 yard backstroke as well (54.88).
Coming in at 1:29.99, the 'A' team of Nate Cobb, Mitchell, Drew Fogel and Brendan Ritchie won the 200 yard freestyle relay.
The women's 200 yard medley relay squad of Sarah Griffiths, Henning, Gettings and Hannah Erickson took second place with a time of 1:53.08. Erickson added a runner-up finish in the 100 yard freestyle (56.51).
With a time of 2:03.04, Cobb took second in the 200 yard IM. On the women's side, Samantha Swingewood placed second in the same event, touching the wall at 2:14.42. Swingewood added a runner-up finish in the 500 yard freestyle.
Getting, Erickson, Samantha Swingewood and Griffiths had a good showing in the 200 yard free relay, taking first in 1:42.66.
The men's 200 yard medley relay team of Cole Nelson, Jake Huttenlocher, Tharp and Ritchie took third with a time of 1:37.82.
Sophomore Justin Huttenlocher claimed third in the 3-meter dive (212.0) and 1-meter dive (197.15).
Freshman Emily Snyder's time of 25.57 was good for third place in the 50 yard freestyle.
As a freshman, Lindsey Walicki placed third in the 3-meter (162.75) and 1-meter (158.75) dives.
"We're not taking this time together for granted," said Stone. "We're excited to be back and competing, but we're really enjoying our time together as a team … We had some good times today and I'm excited to see our times improve heading into the rest of the season."
On Jan. 29, the Britons will be back in the water at Hope College for a MIAA Tri Meet against Hope and Olivet. The meet will commence at 6 p.m. The schedule is subject to change, and as always, gobrits.com will be updated.
