ANGOLA, Ind. -- In her Albion debut, transfer
Riley Davis scored 17 points and brought down eight rebounds in the Albion College women's basketball team's 67-45 win over Denison University. Sophomore
Daniah Beavers grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds in the win.
After trailing 15-6 after the first quarter, the Britons exploded offensively, outsourcing the Big Red, 20-6 in the second quarter. Sparked by an and-one by Davis, on the next Briton possession,
Cierra Cole found junior
Nicole Sweetland for a trey, cutting the deficit to three.
Trailing by one, a bucket from Davis off a feed from Lauen Reed gave Albion the lead for good.
Angelina Mendieta knocked down a three on the ensuing possession, pushing the Brits ahead, 25-21.
With 2:27 in the third, Cole buried a three to extend the Albion lead to double digits. Another triple by Mendieta put all of the momentum in favor of the Brits, as they led 47-31 after three quarters.
Denison struggled from beyond the arc, making just one three ball the whole evening.
Albion got 26 points from its bench, including nine from Reed, eight from Mendieta, and seven from
Dareonna Little.
The Britons will wrap up the weekend in Indiana with a 1 p.m. tipoff against Kenyon.
