ALBION -- The Albion College volleyball team is moving on to the MIAA Semifinals. After a 3-1 win over St. Mary's College, the Brits will face Calvin University on Friday night.
Senior
Chloe Webber led the attack with 15 kills and tallied six total blocks. Sophomore outside
Olivia Alexander added 13 kills, attacking at a .313 clip, while
Jesse Hepner added 11.
Mariah Brenz (28 assists) and
Grace VanDorn (20 assists) dished up the Albion offense.
Defensively, libero
Jenna Khoury led the team with 24 digs.
Kameron Haley (15) and
Ava Smith (13) were the other Britons with double-digits.
Albion cruised to an opening 25-11 victory in the first set, but the Belles battled right back. St. Mary's responded with a 25-21 win in the second set to tie the match at one.
Albion went on to win the final two sets, 25-22 and 25-21.
The 20 wins marks the most in the
Kristin Slamer-de St. Aubin era, and ties the most in Albion history (1986).
Albion, the No. 3 seed, will play the No. 2 seed Calvin University on Friday night at Hope College. An exact game time is TBD.
