Box Score ANGOLA, Ind. -- In the most heartbreaking fashion, the Albion College men's soccer team fell in the MIAA Tournament Semifinals, 2-1, on Thursday evening to Trine University. With 44 seconds left in regulation, the Thunder tied it up, and Trine scored the game winner with 27 seconds left in the second overtime.
Albion concludes the shortened season with a 1-5 overall record.
The Britons held a 1-0 edge at the half, thanks to an unassisted goal by Carter Peek in the 33rd minute.
With 44 seconds left in regulation, the Trine was awarded a penalty kick. The PK was just out of reach of Maximilian Loria, tying the game at one and sending it into overtime.
In the second overtime, the Britons got a free kick opportunity with less than a minute left. After the initial save, the ball was cleared and Trine turned the counterattack into the game winner in the waning seconds of the period.
Trine advances to the Championship game on Saturday, hosted by Hope College.
Loria tallied five saves in the game.
