Box Score 2 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- It was a tough day on the diamond for the Albion College softball team, suffering a sweep at the hands of Calvin University. The Britons fell 8-0 in the first game before dropping the nightcap, 9-0.
In game one, the Knights scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first for a quick 1-0 lead. The Britons were able to keep the Calvin bats at bay until the third time through the lineup. After Calvin struck for a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth, the hosts erupted for a 5-spot in the fifth, ending the game in five innings.
Albion mustered just two hits in the game, coming from Kenadie Baareman and Lauren Beougher.
In the second game, Calvin's offense remained steady as the Knights worked to build a 9-0 lead. The Britons recorded just one hit in the game, coming from senior Grace Connolly.
Albion will be back in action on Friday at St. Mary's for a non conference twinbill. First, the Britons will play St. Mary's before finishing the day with a 2 p.m. game against Calvin.
