ALBION -- A late Benedictine University goal made Wednesday night look bleak for the Albion College men's soccer team
Carter Peek made sure the Brits wouldn't drop their second straight match.Â
With 30 seconds on the clock, a deflected clear attempt off a corner kick found the foot of Peek. The junior hammered a shot into the lower right 90 for the equalizer, as the Britons played to a 1-1 draw with the Eagles.
Albion now sits at 1-1-1 overall while Benedictine moves to 2-1-1.
Scoreless after 82 minutes, the visitors got on the board in the 83rd minute. A long cross resulted in a goal by the Eagles, giving Benedictine a 1-0 lead with under 10 minutes to play.
Albion kept the pressure for the remainder of regulation, before the Britons found the back of the net on Peek's first goal of the season.Â
Controlling the tempo for most of the match, Albion had three great looks at the goal in the second overtime period, but was unsuccessful in finding the golden goal.Â
The Britons held a slight edge in shots (14-13) as both teams had six corners on the night.Â
Freshman goalkeeper
Anton Favre made nine saves in the contest.Â
Albion heads to Wisconsin this weekend for a pair of matches. The Brits will visit Edgewood on Saturday followed by Beloit on Sunday. Both games are slated for 1 p.m. CST.
