Albion mourns the loss of Colton Hunt '16

The Albion athletic and football communities mourn the loss of Colton Hunt '16. A Grandville native, Hunt passed away after a courageous battle in the ICU on Jan. 16.

Former head football coach and leader of the program during Hunt's tenure, Craig Rundle, provided this statement:fb

"Colton was a member of our 2013 and 2015 MIAA Championship teams. He was loved and respected by his teammates and coaches. Colty had a big smile and an even bigger heart that caused people to gravitate towards him. He always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips."

"There was nothing Colty liked better than an interesting conversation with a good friend. He could have an engaging conversation with anyone."

"Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts. Colty was one of those people. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him."

huntCurrent head football coach and assistant coach of those seasons, Dustin Beurer, reflects on his time with Hunt:

"I am extremely grateful to have spent time with him this summer at a former player's wedding."

"The phone calls and texts I have received from his former teammates goes to show what he meant as a person. He was an incredibly special guy who fiercely cared for his family and his teammates."

"I'm going to miss his sense of humor, wit and intelligence. He had a unique way about him that everyone gravitated towards."

fbHunt was a four-year member of the Albion football team as a defensive lineman. Funeral arrangements are not yet known at this time. fb
