14s for #14: Reed registers double-double in win

OLIVET, Mich. – Controlling the tempo from the get go, the Albion College women's basketball team cruised to a 76-41 win over Olivet College on Wednesday.

Reigning MIAA Athlete of the Week and D3hoops.com Team of the Week selection Lolo Reed scored 14 points and brought down a career-high 14 rebounds while dishing out five assists. Junior guard Elena Welker led all scorers with 16 points. The pair combined to go 12-15 from the floor.

Becca Ross turned in another solid performance, scoring 12 points off the bench.

Limiting Olivet to just 16 points in the first half, the Britons gained an early advantage, leading 18-9 after one.

Reed opened the second quarter with a bucket, boosting the lead to double digits for good. Nine straight points from Ross provided Albion with a spark, taking a 19-point lead into halftime.

Cierra Cole buried a three out of the half, vaulting the lead to 22 points. The momentum remained in favor of the visitors for the remainder of the contest, leaving with a dominant win.

With a dominant presence on the boards, the Brits scored 17 second chance points compared to four by the Comets.

Albion sits at 15-4, 8-2 in the conference.
