No. 23 volleyball rolls past Kalamazoo

ALBION – It took just 60 minutes for the No. 23 Albion College volleyball team to roll past Kalamazoo College in three sets on Tuesday night. The Britons now tie the record for most wins in a season, improving to 20-3, 5-1 in the MIAA. 

Chloe Webber and Olivia Alexander led the Brits with nine kills apiece. Both were incredibly efficient, as Webber attacked at a .692 mark and Alexander at a .600 mark. Junior setter Mariah Brenz served up 17 assists while racking up a team-high nine digs. 

Albion won by dominant scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 25-9.

In the first set, the Hornets had a slim 6-3 lead, but it didn't last long. Albion rallied for 10 straight points to turn the deficit into a 13-6 advantage. The Britons later went on to score the final seven points of the set to take the opener. 

A kill by Alexander followed by a bad set by the Hornets sealed a 25-14 victory for the hosts in the middle set. 

Albion used another big 10-0 run in the final set to extend their lead to a dominant 24-7 margin. A service error by the Hornets finished the sweep for Albion.

The Britons finished the night with 15 service aces. 

Kalamazoo swung at a mere -.026 clip. Albion was stellar on the attack, hitting a .397.

Albion hits the road this weekend for three non-conference matches in Illinois. Albion will play Elmhurst and UW-Oshkosh on Friday, hosted by Elmhurst.
