Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

No. 22 volleyball sweeps St. Mary's with ease

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The No. 22 Albion College volleyball team made quick work of St. Mary's College, dropping the Belles in straight sets to close out the regular season. Albion earned its 23rd win, improving on its already best season in program history.

Albion attacked at a .443 clip compared to STM's .074.

Olivia Alexander and Ja'Nyece Larry led the attack with incredible percentages. Alexander finished with 13 kills (.632) and Larry added seven (.750). Fifth year Chloe Webber led all Britons with 14 kills in the match.

A back and forth set was finalized when Mariah Brenz and Jesse Hepner went up for a block. The block gave the Britons a 25-22 win in the opener. From there, Albion found its momentum, cruising to a 25-8 win in the second set. The visitors used a big run midway through the set to increase a sizable lead, helped by a pair of aces from Alexander.

Another huge run vaulted Albion to a 25-13 win in the third. Webber and Brenz ended the day for the visitors with another block.

Brenz dished out 36 assists in the win. Courtney Companion led Albion with 12 digs and three aces.

On Tuesday, the No. 3 seeded Britons host No. 6 Kalamazoo in the first round of the MIAA Tournament. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
