Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Balanced attack gives WBB conference win

ALBION – From the start, the Albion College women's basketball team dominated in a 75-45 win over Kalamazoo College. Despite one player scoring in double figures, the Brits saw four others tack on nine points.

Senior Cierra Cole lit up the box score, scoring seven points, dishing out eight assists, recording three steals and a block.

With 13 points, Dareonna Little was the lone Brit in double figures. Riley Davis, Becca Ross, Angelina Mendieta and Audrey DeWaters all scored nine – marking a career-high for DeWaters.

A 9-1 lead with the help of a Cole triple helped the Brits establish themselves early on. Kalamazoo began hitting baseline jumpers to widdle the Albion lead to just 18-13 after one.

After Kalamazoo cut the lead to three, the Britons exploded offensively, taking a lead by as many as 19. The Brits tightened up defensively, forcing the Hornets into turnovers and scoring off steals.

Up 16 at the half, the lead would be large enough for the Britons to hold onto and add as time went on.

Albion was efficient from the floor, shooting 46 percent. The Brits scored 21 points off turnovers in the win.

The Brits will travel to No. 2 Trine on Monday for a makeup game. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
