Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 2 Trine holds off women's hoops

ANGOLA, Ind. – Early miscues hurt the Albion College women's basketball team in a 57-48 loss at No. 2 Trine on Monday night. Though the Brits were able to keep the game close, Trine had momentum from the jump, making it tough for Albion's offense.

Sophomore Daniah Beavers led Albion with 10 points off the bench while adding eight rebounds. Lolo Reed tacked on nine points and collected 12 rebounds.

Struggling early on, the Brits did not register a point until nearly six minutes had elapsed, when Beavers hit the first bucket of the night. A late foul on the Thunder, aided by a pair of free throws, had Trine up 12-6 after one.

Trine built the lead to as many as 14 points in the second quarter. Though the Brits tried to chip away at the lead, the Thunder led by 11 at halftime.

Albion would not be able to close the gap any farther, as the visitors were always at least two possessions down in the contest. Trine forced Albion to commit 21 turnovers in the game – the second most in a game this season.

The Britons were just 17 of 58 from the floor.

Albion looks to regroup Saturday when they welcome St. Mary's to Kresge. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
