Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Lucky 7! Volleyball remains undefeated

Albion knocked off two national powers on Saturday, improving to 7-0.

HOLLAND, Mich. – This weekend has been one of firsts for the Albion College volleyball team, sweeping their matches on Saturday. With wins over Wittenberg and Denison, the Britons start the season 7-0 – the best in program history.

Additionally, the 3-0 weekend is the first time Albion has gone undefeated in the rugged MIAA-NCAC Challenge. With all three teams receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll, the Britons make the biggest claim to enter the Top 25.

GAME ONE: Albion 3 Wittenberg 0

After Wittenberg had a tough opening match, the Brits caught a tired Tigers squad. Chloe Webber once again led the Albion offense, slamming 11 kills in the win.

Defensively, Courtney Companion continued to impress at the libero position, finishing with 19 digs. Jenna Schienke recorded 12 in the win.

With 30 assists, Mariah Brenz dished out the offense.

GAME TWO: Albion 3 Denison 2

It was everything advertised heading into the final match of the weekend for the Britons. An incredibly back and forth match featured exciting hustle play after exciting hustle play, with Albion eventually coming out on top.

The Big Red went on to force a fifth set, but it was clear that Albion held all of the momentum in the final set. As Denison was clearly rattled, the Britons battled their way to another incredible win.

Webber (18), Kaylynne Nicholson (14) and Olivia Alexander (12) were the offensive leaders for Albion. Companion led the back row with 18 digs, while Schienke and Brenz each finished with 13. Brenz added 45 assists as well.
