Lycan's hat trick vaults men's soccer to win

ALBION – After a change in opponent just seven hours prior, the Albion College men's soccer team was unfazed, defeating Jackson College by a 7-0 score. Junior Grady Lycan recorded a hat trick as the Britons improve to 2-3-2 overall.

After playing the Jets to a tight first 15 minutes, Albion finally broke through in the 17th minute, when Lycan buried home a rebound for an early lead.

In the 39th minute, the Britons doubled their lead, courtesy of Lycan once again. Freshman Karl Hunt sent a ball into the box. Despite missing the originally intended recipient, Lycan was open on the weak side to deliver a 2-0 lead.

Just out of the second half, Jonathan Euceda added the third goal of the night for Albion. Moments later, Lycan netted his third of the evening – making it his MIAA-leading sixth goal of the year.

Off a free kick, junior Brett Swaton scored the host's fifth goal of the night. Over the next eight minutes, Daniel Acosta and Arnav Tamang tacked on the final two Albion goals.

Sophomore keeper Carson Foor (1-3-2) picks up his first win in goal.

Albion hits the road on Sunday when they head to UW-Platteville. Kick off is at 12 p.m. CST.
