Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

No. 18 volleyball splits at home

ALBION – A sluggish day for the No. 18 ranked Albion College volleyball team ended in a split on Saturday afternoon. The Britons swept conference foe, Trine, before being upended in a surprising 3-2 loss to Franklin College. 

Albion movs to 13-2 overall, 1-1 in the MIAA. 

GAME ONE: Albion 3 Trine 0

Looking for a win after Tuesday's devastating loss at Hope, Albion answered by earning a conference victory. Taking the opener 25-18, Albion quickly had a two sets to non advantage after winning the second, 25-19.

All tied at 20 in the third set, the Britons rallied for five straight points to win the match. In that stretch, Kaylynne Nicholson slammed three of her nine kills. 

Junior Olivia Alexander led the way with 13 kills for the Brits. Courtney Companion had a team-high 19 digs, as Jenna Schienke chipped in with 12. Mariah Brenz finished with 33 assists in the win. 

Trine hit at a .068 margin in the contest. The teams combined for 16 service errors.

GAME TWO: Franklin 3 Albion 2

It was a rollercoaster of a match, as the Grizzles won sets one, three and five (25-22, 25-22, 15-11) and Albion dominated the two they won (25-16, 25-13). 

Alexander once again led the Brits, coming in with 18 kills on the night. Chloe Webber tallied 17.

Companion's 16 digs led the defense, as Schienke and Madison McGraw recorded a dozen digs apiece. Brenz had another 50+ assist game, finishing with 51. 

The Britons will host Alma on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. contest.
