Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Cooke, Watkins each score 17 in WBB win

RICHFIELD, Ind. – Four players finished in double figures as the Albion College women's basketball team routed Miami-Middletown, 96-43 in their season opener. In her first career start, Emma Cooke dropped 17 points, going 7 for 11 from the floor. 

Junior transfer Brazyll Watkins added 17 points, going 7 for 11 from the foul line, adding nine rebounds. Lolo Reed bulked her stat line with 12 points, seven boards and three assists. Fellow senior Riley Davis proved her presence inside with four blocks, scoring seven points. 

Off the bench, Payton Baker added a career-high 12 points, while freshmen Aysia Yokely and Meghan Trewhella each scored nine. 

After the first quarter, the Britons held a sizable 21-8 lead. Holding a big lead at the half, Albion poured it on in the second half, outscoring UM-Middletown 28-8 in the third quarter.

Albion shot an efficient 47 percent from the floor, including 77 percent from the free throw line. The Britons turned the ball over just eight times, forcing 23 from their opponents. 

Reed was a perfect 6 for 6 from the foul line. Ava Guilford was solid in her first career start, scoring seven points in just 19 minutes. 

Tomorrow, the Brits will play Earlham College at 2 p.m.
