Alexander hits 1,000 career kills in VB win

ALBION – What a way to end the regular season. 

In Saturday's home finale, the Albion College volleyball team made quick work of Saint Mary's College, knocking off the Belles in straight sets. With her first of 12 kills, senior Olivia Alexander reached the 1,000 career kill mark, becoming just the fifth player in Albion history to do so. 

Fellow outside Kaylynne Nicholson had 10 kills, hitting at a .714  clip. Nicholson committed zero errors in the win. 

In just 70 minutes the Britons were able to close out their home slate and wrap up the regular season, easily defeating Saint Mary's. Albion heads to the MIAA Tournament as the No. 2 seed, going straight to Friday's semifinal match.

Alexander led the defense with 12 digs, as Mariah Brenz ended the day with 36 assists and 11 digs. Jenna Schienke added eight digs for the Brits. 

As a team, Albion swung at a .378 mark, led by Nicholson and Alexander (.429). Ja'Nyece Larry contributed five assisted blocks and hit at a .364 clip. The Britons also finished the match with 10 aces, led by three each from Alexander and Margaret Jones. 

A time and opponent is yet to be determined for Friday's match. Albion will play at Hope College, as the Flying Dutch claimed the No. 1 overall seed.
