No. 20 Trine knocks off women's hoops

ANGOLA, Ind. – On Saturday, the Albion College women's basketball team came up short to No. 20 Trine University, 66-53. 

With 14 points, Brazyll Watkins led the visitors. Both Lolo Reed and DB Edwards chipped in eight points, while Daniah Beavers blocked five shots – a career-best. 

After the first half, the Thunder had broken out to an 11 point lead. Coming out of the locker room fresh, the Britons rallied to erase the deficit and eventually tie the game at 39. An experience Trine squad answered back, closing out the third quarter on a 9-2 run, holding a 48-41 lead heading into the final quarter. 

The small lead would be enough for Trine to hold on and hand the Brits their second consecutive loss, starting off conference play against two of the toughest teams in the league. 

Trine scored 18 points off 14 Briton turnovers and held a significant edge in rebounds. All three of Albion's losses this season have come from nationally ranked opponents. 

Albion hosts Kalamazoo College on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
