Men third, women fourth after day two of MIAAs

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Through day two at the MIAA Championships, the Albion College swim and dive teams sit in third and fourth place. The men are in third with 209 points while the women are in fourth with 190.

The women's 200 yard free relay team kicked off the night with a third place finish. The team of Hannah Fathman, Sarah Griffiths, Sage Gettings and Mattie Smith finished with a time of 1:38.06.

On the men's side, the quartet of Billy Barr, Declan Tharp, Nate Cobb and Brendan Ritchie was second, making a National B cut in the process. They finished with a time of 1:21.93.

In the 200 IM, Smith placed sixth, clocking in at 2:12.50. For the men, Cobb was also sixth in the event.

Albion had a pair of swimmers score in the 50 yard free. Fathman's time of 23.65 earned her a third place finish while Gettings was eighth.

For the men, Barr put together a phenomenal race to place second with a time of 20.22.

Freshman Sarah Weissman took fifth in the 1-meter dive, scoring a 356.00.

With a score of 438.80, Justin Huttenlocher was third in the 3-meter dive.

Griffiths, Smith, Gettings and Bryn Cavanaugh took third in the 400 medley relay (3:58.82).

Rounding out the night, the men's 400 relay team of Ritchie, Tharp, AJ Zako and Barr was also third, coming in at 3:24.62.

On Friday, competition resumes with the prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m.
