Beavers leads Britons at Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A fourth quarter letdown was the difference in the Albion College women's basketball team's 58-57 loss at Calvin University. Calvin outscored the Brits 18-8 in the final period. 

Daniah Beavers led Albion with 14 points coming off the bench. The senior added seven rebounds and was a perfect 6 for 6 from the foul line. Brazyll Watkins was the only other Briton to finish in double figures, scoring 13 points in just 12 minutes. Sophomore Ava Guilford finished with a game-high six assists. 

It was a tight first half, as after 20 minutes the Britons were clinging to a two point advantage. Albion would use two small runs to pull ahead by double digits in the third quarter, led primarily by Beavers in the post. Heading into the final 10 minutes, Albion led 49-40. 

An unfazed Calvin squad worked to slowly chip away at the lead and take a 58-57 advantage with 15 seconds to play. Albion got looks in the waning seconds, but could not drain the game-winner. 

With the conference bye this weekend, Albion heads to Saint Mary's next Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
