Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

WBB narrowly misses upset of No. 7 Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. – A third quarter letdown proved to be the difference in the Albion College women's basketball team's loss to No. 7 Hope College, 62-55. The Britons hung with the Flying Dutch for most of the game, but the hosts made a run in the third Albion could not overcome.

Senior Daniah Beavers led Albion with 13 points and eight rebounds. Both DB Edwards and Riley Davis finished with 11 points, being the only three Brits in double figures. Edwards grabbed seven rebounds, while Davis played all 40 minutes for the second straight contest.

Also playing a full 40 was sophomore Ava Guilford, who was exceptional on defense. Coming off the bench and turning in a masterful performance for the second straight contest was Payton Baker.

Albion held a slim lead at halftime, but an experienced Hope roster settled in and took a lead heading into the final period. Despite getting opportunities to go ahead, Albion could not regain the lead. Down the stretch, the Flying Dutch made free throws that eventually iced the game.

The Flying Dutch held the edge on the glass, 46-36. Hope received 48 of its 62 points from the bench, compared to 10 from the Briton bench.

Albion returns to Kresge on Saturday to host Alma College. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
