Watkins, Davis combine for 39 in win at Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. — Backed by a huge third quarter and a pair of big time threes, the Albion College women's basketball team erased a halftime deficit for a 74-55 win over Adrian College. 

Junior guard Brazyll Watkins led all players with 20 points, bringing down seven boards in the process. Riley Davis had the hot hand for the Brits, scoring 19 points on an 8 of 13 shooting effort. 

After the opening quarter, aided by a pair of Davis 3-pointers, the Britons held a 16-11 advantage. The Bulldogs composed themselves in the second quarter, enough to take a 34-29 lead into halftime.

Albion slowly chipped away throughout the third quarter, swinging momentum fully in the Britons' favor midway through the period. Trailing by four, Davis found sophomore Ava Guilford who knocked down a three to cut the deficit to one. A few moments later with the score knotted at 38, Guilford saw DB Edwards for a corner three, giving Albion the lead for good. 

With 1:35 to play in the period, Guilford drained another 3-pointer to secure a six point cushion. Heading into the fourth, the visitors led by six and would only extend the lead throughout the fourth. 

Davis added to her team-leading total, blocking five shots in the win. Lolo Reed added 12 points and seven rebounds for Albion. Reed and Guilford finished with four assists apiece. 

As a team, Albion shot 50 percent from beyond the arc, as Adrian struggled, connecting on just 16.7 percent. 

On Wednesday, the Britons head to Calvin for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
