Volleyball sweeps Alma, heads to MIAA Semifinals

ALBION – Backed by a balanced offense and the Kresge Krazies, the Albion College volleyball team swept Alma College in the MIAA Quarterfinals. In their Kresge finale, the Brits celebrated 14 service aces, led by Paige Williamson's four. 

Albion rolled to a 25-15 victory in the opening set, limiting Alma to just five kills in the set. Holding a 13-12 lead in the second set, the hosts rattled off a 7-0 run to create distance from the Scots, eventually winning by a 25-17 margin. 

In the third set, Albion trailed early on, including 15-10. With Madison McGraw back to serve, Albion utilized an 11-0 run to reclaim the lead and turn the deficit into a 21-15 advantage. 

Sophomore Carly Frank's 10 kills led the Briton offense. Ava Wilcox finished with eight kills and eight digs, as Margaret Jones recorded seven kills in the middle, swinging at a .417 mark.

McGraw led the Briton back row with nine digs, as Williamson joined Wilcox with eight. Molly Edmunds (16 assists) and Joelle Boeskool (13 assists) guided Albion's offense.

The Britons will play Calvin University on Friday in the MIAA Semifinals. The match, hosted by Hope College, will commence at 4:30 p.m.
