Women third, men fourth at Calvin Quad

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Highlighted by plenty of season bests, the Albion College swimming and diving teams competed at the Calvin Quad over the weekend. The women's team finished third, scoring 616 points, while the men were fourth, turning in a score of XXX

Below is a listing of top ten finishers from the event.

Starting off the weekend, the women's 200 yard free relay team of Kaitlyn Kreb, Mattie Smith, Charlotte Nguyen and Hannah Fathman was second with a 1:39.74.

Smith later went on to win the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:25.34 – a season-best. Emily Evers and Alyssa Glaser finished in the top ten in the event as well.

Sarah Kohler was spectacular in diving events. The sophomore won the 1-meter dive with a score 364.25 and was second in the 3-meter, totaling a 349.30.

Junior Jalen Hung was 10th in the 500 yard free, turning in a season-best swim of 5:04.60.

Mattie Smith was the runner-up in the 200 yard IM with a 2:12.67. That time was her best of the season thus far. Also taking second was Fathman in the 50 yard free, clocking a 23.96. Nguyen placed fourth (25.21) and Kreb was seventh (25.36).

With a 21.34, Billy Barr swam a season-best time in the 50 yard free, claiming fourth place.

On the 1-meter dive, Cam Thompson (229.90) placed fourth and Anders Forster (200.70) was fifth. In the women's event, in addition to Kohler's victory, Sarah Weissman was second with a 358.60, and Megan Shay placed sixth with a 328.35.

In the 400 yard medley relay, the quartet of Alexis Glaser, Smith, Fathman and Kreb was second, coming in at 4:02.84.

Glaser, Smith, Kreb and Fathman competed in the 200 medley relay, taking third and finishing at 1:49.50. Albion's second relay team took ninth, composed of Nguyen, Alyssa Glaser, Mikala Muccino and Laurel Campbell.

Emily Evers swam a 5:04.81 to finish fourth in the 400 yard IM. Alexis Glaser was eighth in the event with a 5:18.77. On the men's side, Kelvin Crone-Willis took seventh (4:23.45) and Hung was ninth (4:26.11). All four recorded season bests in the event.

Fathman's time of 59.61 was good for second in the 100 yard fly. Smith added another runner-up finish, coming in the 100 yard breaststroke.

With a season-low time of 1:03.70, Alexis Glaser was third in the 100 yard backstroke. Nguyen also added a PR of 1:06.03 for eighth. In the men's race, Barr finished eighth. Glaser later finished seventh in the 200 yard back and Evan Steele was 10th.

In sixth was the women's 800 free relay team of Muccino, Olivia Perfili, Evers and Kreb. The men's team was also sixth, swam by Steele, Richard Pifer, Crone-Willis and Hung.

Crone-Willis was fifth in the 1650 yard freestyle, clocking a 17:21.84.

Fathman added a fourth -place finish in the 100 yard free while Barr was seventh on the men's side.

Wrapping up the weekend with the 400 yard free relays, the women's team took seventh.

The Britons will be back in action Nov. 22-24 at Wabash College.
