Women's basketball falls in OT heartbreaker

ALBION – Despite two good chances to win at the buzzer, the Albion College women's basketball team suffered a 57-56 overtime loss to Bluffton University. The Britons missed baskets in the waning seconds of both regulation and overtime, coming up just short in their home opener. 

Senior Emma Cooke had a tremendous day, scoring 18 points and hauling in 16 rebounds. Freshman guard Brooklynn Tornes was the other Albion player to score in double figures, recording 12 points. 

Albion held a 46-38 lead heading into the fourth quarter, but the Beavers rallied back to send the game into overtime. The Brits had a jumper bounce out at the horn, adding an extra five minutes to the contest. 

In overtime, Bluffton was clinging to a one point lead as Albion had one final look. Layups rattled out, seeing the Beavers leave with a road victory. 

Anja Kelley's four assists led Albion. 

On Tuesday, the Brits head to DePauw for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
