Britons fall at DePauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind. – Putting up a good fight for most of the contest, the Albion College women's basketball team ultimately fell short to DePauw University, 60-50. Both Ava Guilford and Meghan Trewhella tallied 15 points to lead the Brits. 

DePauw broke out to a hot start, but Albion found a way to slowly cut into the deficit. Lifted by some sharp shooting off the bench from DJ Pannell, Albion cut the Tiger lead to 23-19 at halftime. Pannell, a freshman, scored a career-best 12 points. 

The teams traded blows throughout the third quarter before a late Tiger run that stretched into the fourth quarter separated the hosts from the Britons. Just moments into the final period, DePauw held a double digit lead over Albion. 

Guilford's 15 points were aided by four 3-pointers. Freshman Brooklynn Tornes had a career evening with six assists. 

On Saturday, Albion will be back on its home court to welcome the University of Chicago for a 4 p.m. tip.
