RV UChicago topples women's hoops

ALBION – Taking on an undefeated opponent receiving votes in the D3Hoops.com national poll, the Albion College women's basketball team dropped a 66-47 decision to The University of Chicago. 

Junior Ava Guilford led all players with a career-best 12 rebounds. Emma Cooke finished with 15 points to lead the Brits, as Meghan Trewhella tacked on 14 points. The Maroons opened up the game leading 20-10 after one period, using Albion turnovers to their advantage. 

UChicago forced Albion to commit 18 turnovers, leading to 21 points for the visitors. The Maroons also blocked eight shots, hurting Albion's shooting percentage. 

The Britons begin MIAA action on Wednesday at Hope College. Tipoff against the No. 19 ranked Flying Dutch is set for 7:30 p.m.
