YORK, Pa. – At one of the toughest competitions in the nation, the Albion College men's wrestling team was back on the mats at the New Standard Invitational. The Britons saw a number of nationally and regionally ranked opponents in the two-day competition.
Jeremy Sarter went 1-2 over the weekend. The 125-pounder picked up a 10-4 victory on Friday.
Cade Odrobina turned in a 2-2 record at 133. The junior won a gritty 5-4 match and later earned a 13-8 victory. At 141, junior
Austin Matheney represented the Brits. Matheney went 1-2, including an 18-5 major decision on Friday. Senior
Max Honiss was 1-2 overall at 149 with a 23-4 tech fall win.
Sophomore
Justin Gorman was 3-2 over the weekend at 157. Coming off a loss, Gorman pinned his next opponent in 4:21 and later earned a 13-4 major decision. At 165,
Brixton Bright went 2-2, highlighted by a tech fall win to open his weekend.
The Britons saw both
Owen Turnbow and
Jack Smith compete at 174. Turnbow won his first two bouts, 16-11 and a tech fall in 6:43. After a loss, he rallied for two more wins, completing his weekend with a 4-2 record. Smith went 3-2 with a massive sudden victory decision in his second win of the weekend.
No. 12 ranked nationally,
Demond Harrison was phenomenal at 197. He opened his weekend with two straight pins, coming in 2:06 and 3:41. He finished the weekend competition with a record of 3-2.
Albion travels to the North Central Invitational next Saturday.
