Davis nets career-best 25 points at Olivet

OLIVET, Mich. – Riley Davis erupted for a career-high 25 points on Saturday as the Albion College women's basketball team defeated The University of Olivet, 65-48. The senior converted 9 of 10 free throws, moving Albion to 14-8 overall this season. 

In addition to Davis's 25, Lolo Reed scored 11 points in the win. Reed, Davis and Payton Baker each dished out three assists. Baker, a sophomore, had a solid stat line of six points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. 

Olivet kept the score close for much of the first half. The Britons put points on the board primarily by Davis getting to the free throw line. The senior scored the last six points for Albion in the first quarter, giving the visitors an 18-12 lead. By halftime, Albion had claimed a 38-24 advantage. 

It wasn't until late in the third that the Brits finally had a comfortable distance from Olivet. Seven of the final eight Albion points of the quarter once more came from Davis, boosting the lead to 54-33 after three. 

With Davis and Reed driving for most of the day, the Britons scored 42 points in the paint, while the Comets finished with just 20. 

Albion hosts Calvin University on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
