Three earn MIAA Athlete of the Week honors

LANSING, Mich. – Three Albion College athletes were chosen for the MIAA Athlete of the Week honors in their respective sports on Monday afternoon. Tess Anthony, Cal Stearns and Audrey DeWaters received the honor.

Anthony was dominant in Friday's tri-meet at Alma. The MIAA Indoor Field Athlete of the Year picked up where she left off, winning both the hammer throw and shot put. Anthony won the shot put with a throw of 11.45 meters and claimed the hammer throw with a mark of 42.55 meters. In the discus, Anthony finished fifth, throwing a 31.05.

On Saturday, the team heads to Ohio Wesleyan University for the Marv Frye Invitational.

Stearns received the men's lacrosse offensive honor, following a nine point performance in Saturday's 19-12 win. The sophomore co-captain scored five goals and dished out five assists, leading the men's lacrosse team to a win in their final non-conference competition of the season.

Stearns and the team host Hope College on Saturday for a noon faceoff.

DeWaters receives the women's lacrosse defensive honor, leading a comeback effort in Tuesday's loss at Ohio Northern. The fifth year senior caused two turnovers and controlled six draws, scoring a pair of goals and adding an assist for the Britons.

Conference play kicks off on Friday with a 7 p.m. matchup against Saint Mary's.
