Volleybrits stung in home opener

ALBION – Despite a boisterous home crowd, the Albion College volleyball team was dropped by Baldwin Wallace University, 3-1. BWU finished with 10 total blocks compared to just a pair by the hosts. 

Albion's right sides did a bulk of the damage, as Carly Frank's 14 kills led the hosts. Freshman Bri Whitfield chipped in with eight kills in the match. Brinley McCaig's 24 assists were a team-best. Joelle Boeskool tallied 16 for the Brits. 

Paige Williamson was a bright spot defensively, collecting 21 digs. Margaret Jones and Kayda Herrick recorded three aces in the loss. 

For the match, the Yellow Jackets attacked at a .306 clip, as Albion struggled with a .185 mark. 

Tomorrow, Albion will play Manchester at 10 a.m. and Chicago at 4:30 p.m. back in Kresge Gymnasium.
