VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — It was a tough weekend for the Albion College volleyball team, dropping three matches at the VWU Invitational.
The trip started Friday night with a 3-0 loss to Stevens. Stevens attacked at a .308 margin, as the Britons struggled, turning in a .138 mark.
Kayda Herrick and
Carly Frank led the Britons with eight kills apiece.
Paige Williamson finished with 15 digs.
Joelle Boeskool's 14 assists led Albion, while
Brinley McCaig recorded 10.
Saturday morning, Albion faced off against a tough Virginia Wesleyan opponent, falling in straight sets. Similar to recent matches, the offense ran through Frank and Herrick, who combined for 21 kills for the Brits. Sophomore middle
Reese Williams ended with five kills, attacking at an efficient .556 clip.
Freshmen setters
Molly Edmunds (15 assists) and Boeskool (11 assists) ran the Albion offense. Defensively, Williamson led Albion with 18 digs, as Herrick -played six rotations, racking up 16. Boeskool added 12, and freshman
Ava Wilcox was solid in her collegiate debut, finishing with eight digs.
Williamson's 18 digs led the Britons.
In the final game, Albion fell 3-1 to Christopher Newport. Herrick's 13 kills led Albion, as Frank and
Margaret Jones finished with 10 each.
Boeskool led with 22 assists, while Edmunds finished with 21. Williamson's 24 digs was a team-high.
Albion will begin conference play on Tuesday when they host Kalamazoo College. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
