Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball drops tough non-conference matches

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The daunting schedule continued for the Albion College volleyball team, as they dropped a pair of matches to tough opponents. The Brits fell 3-2 to Denison University before dropping a 3-1 contest to Wittenberg. 

Albion trailed two sets to none before forcing the decisive fifth set. Late in the final set, Denison went on a small run to claim the victory.

In game one, three Albion players finished with double-digit kills. Carly Frank and Kayda Herrick led the Britons with 16 kills apiece, while sophomore middle Margaret Jones finished with 11. Frank attacked at a sparkling .378 clip in the match. 

Brinley McCaig led the Brits with 24 assists, as Joelle Boeskool dished out 19 assists. Sophomore libero Paige Williamson tied a career-high with 30 digs. Herrick added 13 and McCaig totaled 11. Reese Williams had an Albion-best four blocks. 

Frank ended with a career-high 18 kills in the Wittenberg match, hitting at a .359 mark. Herrick was the only other player in double figures, with 11 kills for the freshman. 

McCaig (25 assists) and Boeskool (13 assists) paced the offense, as Boeskool added 11 digs. Defensively, Herrick recorded a career-high 22 digs, as Williamson ended with 16. With 14 digs, Madison McGraw was great in the back row as well. McGraw had a team-high three aces. 

The VolleyBrits will return to the court next weekend at Ohio Wesleyan. Albion will play Capital and Texas Lutheran on Friday afternoon with matches beginning at 2:30 p.m.
