Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's basketball secures third straight win

ALBION – Backed by career-highs from Ava Guilford and Khaleeya Cook, the Albion College women's basketball team won its third straight game with a 64-51 victory over Adrian College. Guilford led all players with 19 points – including a 9 of 10 effort from the charity stripe.

Sophomore Meghan Trewhella scored 17 points, adding three steals as well. Cook – a freshman – contributed a career-best 16 points while hauling in six rebounds. Emma Cooke's nine rebounds led the hosts in the win.

The Britons held just a four point advantage at the half before breaking the game open in the second half. Holding a 41-36 lead with two minutes to play in the third quarter, Cook swiped an Adrian pass and converted the layup at the other end. On the ensuing possession, Meghan Trewhella did the exact same thing to extend Albion's lead to nine..

Albion went on to score the first five points of the new quarter to break the game open and increase the lead to double digits. Albion's defense picked up in the final quarter to limit the Bulldog chances.

Winners of three straight, the Brits improve to 6-9 overall, 4-2 in the MIAA. Albion was 16 of 20 from the foul line in the win, also scoring 25 points off Adrian turnovers.

The Britons remain on their home court Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. game against Calvin.
