Britons Race Past Earlham to Improve to 5-0

RICHMOND, Ind. -- The Albion College women's basketball handed Earlham College a 67-51 setback on Saturday afternoon to extend the Britons' season opening win streak to five games — their best start since the 2019-20 campaign.

Albion's offense struggled early, as the Britons shot just 5-for-18 in the first quarter, but the defense held firm to keep the Quakers from pulling away. As Earlham held a 25-18 edge at halftime, Albion rediscovered its shooting touch in the third quarter. the Britons poured in 25 points during the frame on 10-for-25 (40%) shooting to swing the momentum back to their side.

A 9-0 run in the middle of the quarter planted the Brits in the driver's seat. A steal and score form Khaleeya Cook kickstarted the run, while Meghan Trewhella added five points and Alexis Trine knocked down a pair of free throws to push Albion ahead, 33-25. The teams traded baskets for the rest of the period as Albion took a 45-38 lead into the fourth quarter.

With the lead in hand, Albion kept its foot on the gas and pummelled the Quakers with a stellar 52.9% field-goal percentage. The Britons outscored Earlham, 24-13 in the final quarter, as they rolled to the win. Trewhella score 10 of her team-high 29 points in the fourth to see out the game for the Brits.

Albion dominated the paint against the Quakers, outscoring Earlham 40-16 down low. The Brits also held a 51-45 advantage on the boards. Trewhella added nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals to fill the box score. Cook finished one point shy of her career high with 15. The sophomore pulled down five boards and tallied three steals. Ava Guilford tallied a team-high four assists and registered her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
