Britons Dominate Heidelberg in Season Opener

ALBION, Mich. -- The Albion women's basketball team kicked off their season with a convincing 98-32 win over Heidelberg.

It was the most points scored in a game for the Britons since February 14, 2024 vs. St. Mary's and the least amount they have allowed since December 8, 2021 against Spring Arbor.

Senior Ava Guilford led the way for the Britons, recording 13 points and 13 assists while shooting 83.3% from the field. Junior Meghan Trewhella posted 19 points with five rebounds, and freshman Molly McLeod tallied a team-high 21 points in her first collegiate game.

Freshman Alexis Trine contributed with nine points and eight rebounds, and senior Payton Baker recorded eight points with five rebounds to also help the Britons in the one-sided affair.

The Britons never allowed any life for Heidelberg to come back into the game, leading every statistical category as a team throughout all four quarters.

Albion will look to continue this success in their next matchup against Hiram on November 14th in Notre Dame, Ind. for The Inn at St. Mary's Classic.
