HONOLULU, Hawaii -- Meghan Trewhella,
Payton Baker and
Khaleeya Cook all scored in double figures as the Albion women's basketball team trounced Whitworth, 71-49, at Hawaii Pacific's Shark Tank to wrap up their trip to the Aloha State.
Albion led 17-12 after the first quarter courtesy of 11 fast break points while allowing the Pirates to only maintain two leads in the period.
The Britons notched an 11-point advantage five times during the second, but Whitworth posted the final five points of the half to make it a 33-27 game heading into the locker room.
The Pirates fought back in the third, tying the game on two separate occasions and then taking a lead, 41-40, with five minutes left in the stanza.
However, the deficit sparked a 9-0 run by Albion as they stretched their advantage to 49-41 at the end of the third.
Albion put the pedal to the medal in the fourth, outscoring the Pirates 22-8 and leading by as many as 24 while shooting 59% from the field in the stanza.
Trewhella posted a game-high 22 points, while Baker had 16 and Cook chipped in 10. The defense held Whitworth to a mere 30.6% from the field.
