Guilford goes for 17 in Alma loss

ALMA, Mich. – A tough second quarter was the difference in the Albion College women's basketball team's 76-61 loss to Alma College. The Scots used a monster first half to create distance from the Britons. 

Ava Guilford played all 40 minutes for the Brits, scoring 17 points and recording a career-high five steals. Payton Baker and Meghan Trewhella finished with 12 points apiece. 

Albion struggled from the floor – primarily from beyond the arc. The Britons connected on just 20 percent of their threes, as the Scots shot 53.3 percent from distance. 

On Wednesday, Albion hosts Kalamazoo for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
