Baird Earns Top-10 Finish at Comet Open

Bianca Baird paced the Britons with a ninth-place finish at the Comet Open.
RESULTS

CHARLOTTE, Mich. -- Eight Albion women's cross country runners made their season debuts at Olivet's Comet Open in a 5K race.

The course, Broadview Acres Golf Course, will host the MIAA Championships on November 1.

Six teams competed, all from the MIAA, and the Britons placed fifth.

Newly married Bianca Baird (formerly Wiegerink) led the way for Albion with a ninth-place finish in a time of 19:09.7.

Kacey Kernen (26th, 21:29.4) and Serena Arnold (29th, 21:52.7) notched spots in the top 30, while Taylor Adams (33rd, 22:42.2) and Lilly Vandervennet (34th, 22:46.2) were not too far behind.

Melanie Symons (37th, 22:57.0) and Veronica Paniccia (38th, 22:58.6) rounded out the Albion scorers.

Kyra Shouldice (25:41.7) also competed.

The Britons will get a week off before traveling to Westerville, Ohio for the Otterbein Invitational on Saturday, September 13.
