DELAWARE, Ohio -- Paced by the dynamic trio of
Kayda Herrick,
Carly Frank, and
Margaret Jones, the Britons opened the NCAC/MIAA Crossover with a resounding 3-1 win over Ohio Wesleyan University.
Herrick, Frank, and Jones combined for 47 of the Britons' 56 kills in the come-from-behind win, Albion's first over the Battling Bishops since 2023. Herrick floored a match-high 18 kills to go along with 15 digs to finish with her second double-double in as many matches. The sophomore also added three aces to round out the performance. Frank slammed 15 kills, while Jones matched a career-best with 14 kills. Jones hit at a stellar .407 clip and tossed up three blocks to dominate the net for Albion.
The reigning MIAA Specialist of the Week,
Molly Edmunds, continued her hot start to the season with a new career-high in assists with 47. The Trenton, Michgan, native added 12 digs, a pair of blocks, and an ace to round out the performance. On the defensive side of the net,
Paige Williamson registered a match-high 24 digs.
After dropping the opening frame, 25-19, the Britons responded with a 25-21 victory in the second set to set up a momentum-shifting third set. A back-and-forth third frame resulted in a 31-29 win for the Britons. Neither side could swing the set in their favor,, but the hosts managed to sneak ahead, 23-20. Albion answered with a four-point run, powered by three kills from Frank to jump into the lead.The give-and-take continued from there, as Jones and Herrick floored back-to-back kills to end the frame
With the momentum on their side, the Britons rolled in the fourth and final set. Albion swung at a .371 clip and tallied 18 kills to batter the Battling Bishops. Jones shined during the frame, posting 7 of her 14 kills to go along with a .700 attack percentage.

Albion returns to the court tomorrow to close out the NCAC/MIAA crossover with a pair of matches against Denison University and Wittenberg University. The Britons take on Denison at 10 am before challenging Wittenberg at 3 pm.
