ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Albion College women's basketball team dropped a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) tilt to the reigning MIAA champion Trine University on Wednesday evening by a final score of 78-58.
Albion (10-5, 3-3 MIAA) hung tough with the Thunder (12-3, 6-0 MIAA) throughout the first half, but Trine's offense found a second gear across the third and fourth quarters. The Thunder upped their accuracy to 50% (6-for-12) and 60% (9-for-15) across the final two periods which the Britons were unable to match. The Britons shot a rock-solid 40% (22-for-55) across the contest, but Trine's shooting form at home made the difference.
Khaleeya Cook and
Meghan Trewhella spurred Albion's offense with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Cook added five rebounds and one helper while shooting 63.6% (7-for-11) from the floor. The sophomore reached double figures for the third-straight game following her 15-point outing.
Ava Guilford narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and a team-best seven rebounds. The senior dished a team-high-tying four assists to round out her performance.
