Box Score ALBION, Mich. -- The Albion College women's basketball team made its stand in the fourth quarter on Saturday afternoon as the Britons withstood a comeback attempt from the Knights of Calvin University en route to a 55-52 victory inside of Kresge Gymnasium.
A strong start to the tilt saw the Britons (11-5, 4-3 MIAA) head into the halftime break with a 34-24 lead over Calvin (9-7, 4-3 MIAA) on the heels of a scorching 75% (6-for-8) shooting performance across the second quarter. Coming out of the break, however, Albion's shooting stroke faltered, which allowed Calvin to outscore the Brits, 17-4, in the third stanza.
With Calvin ahead, 41-38, to start the final quarter, the Brits remained calm and strung together a 6-0 run to start the period to seize control of the tilt.

Meghan Trewhella, and
Ava Guilford supplied the fireworks during the quick barrage that saw Albion take a 44-41 lead.
That lead was all the Britons needed.
Albion stretched its advantage to five, 52-47, with just under four minutes to play, as Guilford swiped the ball and quickly dropped in a fastbreak layup. Calvin eventually knotted the score at 52-52 with 1:25 on the clock, but Guilford stepped up one more time for the Brits. The senior drained a deep three-ball with 1:08 left in regulation to seal the win for the Brits.
Calvin finished the game with a narrow 31-26 advantage on the glass. The Britons outshot the Knights, 50.0% (20-for-40) to 41.5% (22-for-53) across the contest.
Individually, Trewhella led all scorers with 19 points. The junior chipped in three rebounds and three assists. Guilford had an all-around performance with 16 points and team-highs in rebounds (7), assists (5), and steals (4).
