GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Albion men's swim & dive team took fifth at the MIAA Invitational with 207 points hosted by Calvin at the Venema Aquatic Center.
The Knights won the meet with 641 points.
The invitational serves as an unofficial preview of the MIAA Championships which take place from February 18-21 at the Holland Aquatic Center.
Tyler Deubel had the best day of any Briton, as he placed fourth in both the 400 IM (4:23.81) and 500 freestyle (4:57.78).
Jalen Hung also took fourth in the 200 butterfly (2:01.23).
Harper Prutch and
Wesley Jenkins produced top eight performances in the 50 freestyle and 1,650 freestyle, respectively.
Both freshmen, Prutch notched a time of 21.94 while Jenkins posted a mark of 18:10.75.
Prutch and
Steven Matyas went 11-12 in the 200 backstroke with times of 2:09.26 and 2:09.75. Matyas also took 16
th in the 200 freestyle (1:54.53).
Spencer Lukasik (2:26.16) and
Will Pentland (53.43) were Albion's best finishers in the 200 breaststroke and 100 freestyle, respectively.
In the relays, the 200 freestyle quartet of Hung, Matyas, Jenkins and Will placed eighth (1:34.59) while the 400 medley squad of Prutch, Hung, Deubel and
Brody Roberts took 10
th (3:45.09).
