ALBION, Mich. — The Albion western equestrian team earned high point team honors both days of their two-day home show at Held Equestrian Center from February 14-15.
On the first day of competition,
Madison Weedon earned first place in open horsemanship, while
Lily Jurvelin also took the top placement in the beginner horsemanship.
Riley Long and
Jennah Skiba finished in fifth in the Level II Horsemanship and Rookie Horsemanship Section A competitions, respectively.
Avery Vick (Level II Horsemanship Section B), Alyssa McPherseon (Level I Horsemanship Section A),
Dixie McKibbin (Rookie Horsemanship Section B) and Lydia Van Tichelt (Rookie Horsemanship Section C) all earned first place in their respective events.
Long (ranch riding) and Weedon (reining) took second place in each event, while Weedon claimed high point rider of the day honors.
Weedon opened the second day of competition with a first place showing in open horsemanship, while
Stellamia Aerts also took the top placement in Level II Horsemanship Section A.
Miranda Mott won the Rookie Horsemanship Section A, while Skiba was first in Rookie Horsemanship Section B.
Claire Stier (Level I Horsemanship Section B) and
Rose Stanton (Rookie Horsemanship Section C) were other winners for the Britons.
Aerts claimed first in ranch riding, while Weedon won reigning.
Weedon qualified for regionals individually in the open horsemanship and was high point rider of the Day, while Aerts claimed reserve high point rider of the day honors.
The team secured their ride to the regional semifinals, with a 59-point lead in the region. They will compete at Murray State in Kentucky from March 21-22.
Those who qualified for regionals individually will compete in Midland in three weeks to fight for a spot at the semifinals.
