ALBION, Mich. – Coming off an emotional, overtime upset of No. 9 Hope, the Albion women's basketball team could not fend off another ranked team as they dropped to No. 20 Trine, 69-37, at Kresge Gymnasium.
The Thunder led the entire game and built an 18-5 lead after the first quarter.
It was more of the same in the second. Trine added on and made it a 21-point advantage halfway through the period and found themselves up 36-15 at the intermission.
Albion did score its most points in the third (15), but the Thunder still held their 20+ point lead, 52-30, at the conclusion of the quarter.
Trine's largest lead was 33. It was a miserable shooting night for the Britons, who shot just 22.2% from the field and 1-for-17 from beyond the arc.
Despite a team-high 14 points from two-time reigning MIAA Player of the Week
Meghan Trewhella, the Thunder defense made her uncomfortable in the post as she shot just 2-of-12 and made 10 of her points at the line.
